My Name is Not Refugee by Kate Milner has won the coveted Klaus Flugge Prize this year - and we have a look inside.

The Klaus Flugge Prize celebrates the most exciting newcomer to children's book illustration, and this year's judges decided Milner had to win for her moving story of a young child and his mother leaving their home.

Meanwhile, Victoria Semykina was Highly Commended for her illustrations in The Real Boat.

'The questions My Name is Not Refugee asks us to consider help us to think ourselves into someone else's shoes,' said Waterstones Children's Laureate and Klaus Flugge judge Lauren Child.

'The illustrations do just what they should, allowing the reader time to contemplate the predicament of the storybook child, a chance to imagine and to empathise.'

Meanwhile, Milner said she felt 'absolutely amazed and delighted' when she heard that she had won.

'I was very, very pleased to be shortlisted but I explained to everyone at the time that there was absolutely no chance of me winning,' she joked.

'I was quite clear about this. When I got the good news I was alone in the house apart from my son who was still asleep. I was beside myself with delight; he didn't get to stay asleep long!'

Milner has now been presented with an award and a £5,000 prize at a special ceremony in London.
