How to draw Squashy, the pet pumpkin

Children's author Laura Ellen Anderson, creator of the adored Amelia Fang series, talks us through how to draw Amelia's pumpkin friend, step by spooky step.

Amelia Fang is the brilliant creation of Witch Wars illustrator Laura Ellen Anderson (published by Egmont). She's been described as 'a modern Wednesday Addams – but much more lovable'. She's a young vampire who solves mysteries and gets out of some very sticky situations.

A big part of what makes this gorgeously gothic, wickedly funny book series so great is SQUASHY. 

Squashy is Amelia's pet pumpkin, who hangs out with her friends Florence the yeti and Grimaldi the reaper in the world of Nocturnia. Seriously – look at that cute orange face.
