Bookstart for children who are looked-after

Every child is entitled to their Bookstart packs no matter what their situation and foster carers can access packs for the children in their care through the usual channels.

Bookstart is flexible and gifters vary throughout England and Wales and across local authorities. Some of the main providers of Bookstart packs and programmes are: health visitors, registrars, early years settings and support workers.

Letterbox Club boys

BookTrust has also developed the Letterbox Club for children who are looked-after. Children are enrolled for the Letterbox Club by local authorities and schools.

Each child receives their own colourful parcel of books, maths games, stationery and other high-quality materials once every month for six months, from May to October.

There are six different parcel sets available, ranging from Letterbox Purple (for children aged 3-5) to Letterbox Green (for children in Year 7, to follow them into Year 8).

For more information, please visit the Letterbox Club section of our website.
