The Big Welsh Rhyme Time 2020: What a week of rhyming fun!
Published on: 25 February 2020 Author: BookTrust Cymru
Over 22,000 children in schools, nurseries, libraries and early years settings from across Wales took part in the Big Welsh Rhyme Time this year!
The Big Welsh Rhyme Time took place from Monday 10 to Friday 14 February 2020. Each year The Big Welsh Rhyme Time encourages fun and enjoyable rhyme sharing activity for children in Wales aged 0-5, in Welsh and English.
We have enjoyed sharing our favourite fun rhymes and celebrating rhymes and songs to help children develop speaking, listening, communication and literacy skills, improve their attention and confidence and – crucially – have fun!
We shared silly songs and round the bend rhymes all week long. Here’s just some of the highlights…
Rugby icon, James Hook joined us for the rhyming fun. James said, 'Raising three boys has taught me how much fun reading and rhyming with your kids is! You get to unleash your inner child and be silly with the little ones.'
Family Bookworms and children’s author and illustrator Huw Aaron told us all about their love of rhymes.
…And most importantly, children and families all over Wales have had fun singing, rhyming and smiling with us! Well done to everyone who took part for making Big Welsh Rhyme Time 2020 such a fun-filled, rhyme-tastic week!
