Join BookTrust Cymru to celebrate the Big Welsh Rhyme Time 2020
Published on: 31 October 2019
Join us for the second year of our celebration of sharing rhymes and songs for early-years children across Wales, from 10–14 February 2020.
The Big Welsh Rhyme Time is a Wales-wide celebration of songs and rhymes. It aims to promote and encourage fun and enjoyable rhyme sharing activity for children in Wales aged 0-5, in Welsh and English.
To celebrate the next Big Welsh Rhyme Time, we are giving away over 20,000 stickers and certificates to practitioners working with children and families in Wales.
To take part in the Big Welsh Rhyme Time, all you need to do is register to receive your free certificates and stickers and plan some fun activities to share rhymes and songs for the children that you work with.
We'll be providing ideas and inspiration to help you – look out for our updates.
Sharing rhymes and songs can help children develop speaking, listening and language skills and give them a headstart when they begin to learn to read. Rhyming can also help build children's confidence to speak, sing and join in. And it's also a great way to have fun!
The Big Welsh Rhyme Time is organised by BookTrust Cymru as part of our Welsh Government funded programmes. The 2020 celebrations are supported by Cyw, Early Years Wales, Literature Wales, Mudiad Meithrin, NDNA Cymru, PACEY Cymru and the Welsh Books Council.
