Woozy the Wizard: A Broom to Go Zoom

Publisher: Faber and Faber

Woozy the Wizard has a perfectly functional broomstick, with room for both him and his pig, but it's a bit old and shabby, so he bins it in favour of a new high-tech hoover, which promises to zoom him to new heights. Befuddled by the complex self-assembly instructions, the hapless wizard enlists the help of his friends, Witch Titch, Witch Tall and Mary the Fairy (with her fabulously hairy legs). Substituting jam for glue and with the aid of a spell or two, he eventually manages to get the hoover off the ground.

Brightly coloured pages, cheerful illustrations and funny rhythmic verse zip this story along, making it an ideal book to bridge the gap between picture books and older fiction.
