Come rain or shine, follow this little boy through the four different seasons as he enjoys precious moments with his beloved grandmother. In spring, appropriately dressed in polka dot wellies and a yellow mac, the grandson holds on tight to his grandma as they walk side by side under her umbrella.

The hot summer days are for sweet ice-lollies together, then cooling down under a shady tree. When autumn arrives, the pair dig out their warmer clothes as they take advantage of the strong winds for some kite-flying fun.

Come winter, the young boy stays close to his grandma as she reads to him in her armchair. Storytime is followed by delicious hot drinks – peppermint tea for Grandma and cocoa topped with marshmallows for her grandson. No matter the time of year, it’s the small everyday moments this little boy loves the most.

This is an adorable picture book about a young boy’s love for his grandmother and the special moments they share. Although you see an illustration of the boy’s parents dropping him off, the story does not specify whether the grandson is just visiting or if he lives with his grandmother, so each little reader may interpret it differently, depending on their own living situation.

Jarvis’ illustrations exude warmth and love on each page. As each season passes, the delightful colours transform and change – from bright vibrant summer shades of pink and yellow to deeper hues of navy and purple for those cosy winter evenings.
