The Wicked Tricks of Till Owlyglass

Publisher: Walker Books

Two brothers visiting Germany with their parents are left to entertain themselves and manage to get into all sorts of trouble. An elderly gentleman living nearby promises to cure them of their naughtiness and begins by telling them about the worst boy the world has ever known.

Till Owlyglass was the wickedest trickster in Germany and so (in)famous that stories are still being told about him over 500 years after he lived. Luckily, the old gentleman knows quite a few of the stories and keeps the boys entertained for the rest of their stay.

Atmospheric pen and ink illustrations show how Till's clever tricks made people laugh and cry, made him very rich as well as very poor and did a good job of exposing cheats and charlatans.
