The Secret History of Tom Trueheart: Boy Adventurer

Normally the Land of Story runs like clockwork. The Story Bureau sends a letter outlining the beginning of their next adventures to the Trueheart Brothers, who are all stalwart adventurers named Jack, and off they set.

But when youngest brother Tom turns twelve, it’s obvious something’s gone horribly wrong. Disaffected Story Bureau employee, the sinister Brother Ormestone, decides he should finish the stories he’s created, leaving the Braveheart brothers stranded in their respective adventures and only Tom to rescue them.

Tom’s quest to discover his own story and his courage unrolls through an elegantly described magical landscape, as Ian Beck skilfully weaves familiar tales into his own highly inventive story about the way stories work.
