The Other Alice

Midge's sister Alice is a born storyteller. One of her rules is that a story must have an ending - so when she goes missing and her work in progress remains incomplete, Midge knows that Alice has been taken against her will. It's up to Midge to find an ending to the story that will ensure Alice's safe return, before it's too late.

Michelle Harrison's dark take on middle-grade fairytale fantasy will appeal to those readers with a leaning towards the Grimm. Murder and mystery are afoot and the story of Alice's curse could chill more sensitive readers. It's fabulously good fun and after a deliciously intriguing set-up, the pace really picks up.

Freedom of imagination, reading and creative writing, as well as the grand tradition of fairy tales and stories as escapism are all celebrated here - and there's also a talking cat who likes drinking tea! What more could a book lover want?
