The Dark
Publisher: Orchard Book
Laszlo is afraid of the dark, which spends its time down in the basement of his house. It doesn't visit Laszlo in his room, but then one night the night-light goes out, and the dark calls Laszlo down into the basement to meet it...
This deceptively simple picture book is full of suspense and atmosphere. Pairing Jon Klassen with Lemony Snicket is a masterstroke: Klassen's stylish, graphic, vintage-inspired illustrations are the perfect companions to Snicket's understated and lyrical text. Emotive, evocative and ultimately very reassuring, this is a story that is certain to speak to any child who has ever been afraid of the dark.

This book has helped my son with his fear of the dark and understanding what the dark is

It gets rid of your fear of the dark; it conquers fears. It is a good story but it could be longer. There could be a sequel. It could be continued ... I expected more from the writer of A Series of Unfortunate Events - I thought he'd do better. If it had been for an older audience, then he could have written a cliff hanger and then continued with more books.
