The Best Eid Ever

Publisher: Bloomsbury

Ramadan is over and it’s Eid tomorrow – Aisha’s most loved festival. Aisha’s favourite part of the day is opening up her gifts. Every year, her family hide the gifts in a treasure hunt for her and her brother Samir to find. But there’s lots to do before the gift hunt can begin. First, Mum and Aisha decorate their hands with beautiful, swirly henna patterns and then Dad and Samir hang up the balloons and lanterns in the living room.

The next day, it’s time for Eid prayers at the mosque before a big family meal. Aisha loves spending time with her family and eating all the delicious food, but she’s getting impatient and really, really wants to open her gifts. Finally, it’s time for the hunt and she and Samir are given their first clue. Each clue has a riddle to solve to take them to the next one. The final clue is the trickiest, but Aisha manages to solve it and at last, she discovers her hidden Eid gifts.

From breaking fast to going to the mosque, painting your hands with henna to sharing tasty treats, Aisha’s story is the ideal introduction to explore the festival of Eid al-Fitr with children. The back matter includes Eid facts and a glossary of words used in the story.
