Getting started with Story Hunters

After you register for Story Hunters, you'll be able to access our carefully designed letters and envelopes, so the programme is exciting and enjoyable for the children signed up.

The packs will arrive at your school unsealed, in easily identifiable Story Hunters boxes.

What you'll need to do

  • Appoint a staff member to liaise with the Story Hunters team to coordinate numbers of parcels, delivery and dispatch times.
  • Let parents/carers know about the programme. We have a range of letters and ideas for how to engage parents/carers.
  • Personalise and distribute the packs each month by:
    • inserting each child's name to the template letters we supply, and adding them to the packs
    • addressing each pack to the child
    • giving out the packs (either directly to participating children, or by passing them on to the parents/carers of participating children).

Recommended:

  • Hold a parent/carer session to encourage families to engage with the programme. Have a look at our template session outline.
  • Appoint a staff member to oversee the assessment and evaluation for participating children and families. Note: pre- and post- questionnaires are provided in the evaluation section for you to use.

What we'll do

  • Deliver your order of Story Hunters parcels to your school. This is usually done in three bi-monthly deliveries. We also deliver monthly, if you have a larger cohort or limited storage space. The parcels will arrive unsealed and pre-packed with the selected items for each month. Note: we cannot deliver parcels to the child's home address.
  • Supply electronic template letters for the children (to be personalised and included in each parcel) and template letters for parents/carers (to be amended and sent out as required).
  • Give you information about engaging families in Story Hunters.
  • Provide ongoing support and advice from the Story Hunters team.
