The Letterbox Club

Inspiring a love of reading and engagement with numeracy in children who are looked-after.

Across the UK, children are enrolled for the Letterbox Club by local authorities and schools. Each child receives their own colourful parcel of books, maths games, stationery and other high quality materials once every month for six months, from May to October.

For many children, it's the first time they have had a letter or a parcel through the post and for some it's the first time they have had books of their own.

About Letterbox Club

Each child receives their own colourful parcel of books, maths games, stationery every month for six months. For many children, it's the first time they have had a letter or a parcel through the post and for some it's the first time they have had books of their own.

How to sign up

Place your Letterbox Club 2017 order. The cost is £145 per child, including VAT. Each participating child gets six parcels - one parcel every month, usually from May to October.

Local Authorities

Letterbox Club parcels can help improve the educational outlook for children who are looked-after in your area. Local authorities can use Pupil Premium Plus for looked after children and Pupil Premium for other vulnerable children, to fund Letterbox Club.

Schools

As well as children who are looked-after, the programme is suitable for other children you think would benefit. Schools can enrol as few or as many children as they wish. Many schools have said that the Letterbox Club would also support vulnerable children who are on the edge of being in care.

Coordinators

The coordinators' area will be available soon providing useful information and resources to help you administer the programme - delivery dates, parcel contents, book descriptions, template letters and feedback forms. For the time being please contact Letterbox@booktrust.org.uk and we will be happy to supply you with any information or documents that you may need.
