Your step-by-step guide

1. Fix some greaseproof paper on to a baking tray ready for your cookies to sit on later.

2. Turn the oven on to 160c/Gas 3.

3. Chop the butter into small chunks and add this to the bowl with the sugar and the flour.

4. Rub the butter into the flour and sugar to form breadcrumbs.

5. Start to bring the mixture together using clean hands. You’ll need to knead the dough in the bowl to get it to stick together. Once you have your dough, roll this out on a floured surface - it’s a crumbly mixture so be gentle!

6. It’s time to get your cookie cutters ready! Cut out your shapes from the rolled-out dough. Then carefully lift them from the surface using a spatula and place them on the baking tray.

7. Bake your cookies in the oven for 15-20 minutes or until pale golden-brown.

8. In the meantime, why not put pens to paper and colour in an illustration from My Pet Star

9. Once cooked - they will still appear a little soft to the touch - allow the cookies to cool completely on a plate or wire rack. Now it’s time to ice and decorate!

10. Place the icing sugar in a bowl then add a couple of spoonfuls of water at a time and mix together. Once you have a thick consistency, use a small metal spoon to layer the icing on to each biscuit and spread to the edges. Then add your hundreds and thousands or other toppings.

11. Wait for the icing to dry, then tuck in to your delicious cosmic treats!
