Sainsbury's Children's Book Awards 2018 shortlist is revealed

BookTrust has teamed up with Sainsbury's again for its 2018 Children's Book Awards - and the shortlist has now been revealed.

Now in its fifth year, the Sainsbury's Children's Book Awards aims to celebrate some of the best titles in children's publishing.

15 books have been nominated for this year's awards across five categories, covering everything from Best Picture Book to Favourite Characters.

Popular authors including Ed Vere, Abi Elphinstone and Garth Jennings have made the cut alongside characters from Pokemon and Peppa Pig.

Meanwhile, the Sainsbury's Children's Classic award - celebrating a title which has brought joy to generations of young readers - will also be announced at a special awards ceremony on 29 August.

'We're delighted to be working with Sainsbury's on its Children's Book Award,' said BookTrust's Director of Children's Books Jill Coleman.

'Sainsbury's is a great partner for BookTrust because they share our passion for getting children reading. We love that they are so committed to promoting brilliant books that are sure to excite, entertain and engage families.

'The judges certainly have their work cut out for them this year - the shortlist is fantastic and there are so many great books to choose from.'
