You Know Me Well

Publisher: Macmillan

Mark and Kate have never spoken outside class. Then Kate spots Mark miles away from home, out in the city for a wild night. Kate is lost, having just run away from a chance to meet the girl she loves from afar. Mark, meanwhile, is in love with his best friend Ryan...

Little do they know how important they will become to each other.

Told in alternating chapters, written by two different authors, You Know Me Well is an honest, poignant and hilarious exploration of what it means to be truly known by someone - and how it feels when the people you love don't know you as well as you'd like.

Both Levithan and LaCour write with a wonderful authenticity. Mark and Kate feel like incredibly real and well-developed characters. The San Francisco setting is also well-drawn.

As well as being a wonderful book for LGBT representation, this is a wonderful book celebrating first love and friendship.
