Suee and the Shadow

When her dad gets demoted at work, Suee has to transfer school from the cosmopolitan Bustle Elementary to lame Outskirtsville, which is darker, duller and in all ways unwelcoming – not least the other kids, who make fun of Suee’s black clothes and strange sense of humour.

One day, when Suee wanders into a room at the school storing old pottery, something calls her into the shadows; it’s not until later that she realises a shadow-girl has attached itself to her and refuses to let go. Later, she observes that there are some kids at Outskirtsville Elementary – the loner kids – that don’t have shadows at all.

However, it’s not until Suee, Haeun and Hyunwoo - the Zero Detective Club – investigate the matter further that they realise there’s a sharp increase in kids with no shadows after Fourth Grade, when kids get assigned to clear out the room with the old pottery in it. What strange magic is going on, and what does it have to do with one specific ancient pot that was found before the school was built?
