Shiver Point

Alex only moved to Shiver Point a few months back because his Mum had to relocate for work. She does long shifts as a nurse and money’s tight.

So, when a bright light streaks across the night sky and seems to land somewhere in Howlmoor Forest, Alex sees a potential opportunity to make some quick cash. His geography teacher says that pieces of fallen meteorite can fetch good prices which is the only reason he is trekking through a wood in the middle of the night.

But four other kids have had the same idea. And they are not alone.

A sinister, shadowy figure with huge teeth and a terrifying screech for a voice is watching them and, although they run, the kids can’t hide for long.

At about 150 pages, this is a short, snappy rollercoaster of a horror story with a skilful build-up of tension from ‘This sleepy town is so bland, nothing ever happens here’ to ‘Aargh, we’re all going to die!’.

Populated by mysterious exploding slugs, black goo and zombified townsfolk, this tale of five misfits who must work as a team to defeat the invaders will have wide appeal.
