My So-Called Life
Publisher: Oxford University Press
'Why is life never like it is in books? Nothing interesting ever happens to me. I am not adopted, my parents are not alcoholics or drug addicts, and I don't live on a council estate. Even my name sucks. In other words, my life is earth-shatteringly normal. This cannot go on. Something deep and life-changing has to happen...and sometime about now would be good.'
Rachel Riley is determined to make her so-called life more interesting - befriend exotic people, win the heart of Justin Statham, and refine her own unique brand of vintage Essex chic. This funny story with a lively heroine, told in diary format, will especially appeal to teenage girls.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can't wait to read the others. I'm happy there are more books because the ending isn't particularly closed in that there are things I really want to happen still (as in Jack and Riley). The only thing I didn't like about it was that Rachel keeps going on about how boring her life is even though her life is a lot more exciting than mine. I would recommend it to a friend.

As a parent I would like to say that not all parents think the contents of this book is appropriate for 13 year olds. It’s full of crude sexual references on every second page. Do parents really want thirty young girls reading this trash? I’m avoiding all the authors work from now on.
