I Didn't Do It!

Publisher: Andersen Press

Milo is in a hurry on his bike: he wants to get to the big cycle race in town before he misses it. Yet, because he’s in a hurry, he doesn’t look where he’s going and manages to knock over a market stall and more than one person. Desperate to get closer to the racers, Milo rides on and on with an ever-greater pile up of chaos in his wake, shouting that he didn’t do it!

Meanwhile, at the finishing line, TV cameras are poised to record the cycle race as it passes the finishing line – but who is that trying to make off with the trophy? Will Milo see the racers – and will he, in fact, end up being quite useful after all?

Michael Foreman is one of Britain’s most beloved illustrators, and this ingenious gem of a picture book is full of his usual joy and energy. Foreman knows exactly how impatient children are, and how familiar – and irritating! - the cry of “I didn’t do it!” will be to parents. Like all children, Milo isn’t perfect, but he’s learning about how his actions affect others; his eagerness not to miss the exciting bike race means that he makes lots of mistakes, but fortunately, everything is all right in the end.
