Deep, A story of love through the Generations

Publisher: Bloomsbury

This is the stunning story of a mother whale and her baby whale and starts as soon as her baby takes its first breath and follows them all the way through to the whale growing up and learning how to survive on its own, with its mother’s love all around it.

On one level it’s the story of the whale growing up, but on another level it’s a very philosophical tale about life and how to live your life and how parents and carers have to eventually let children go into the world, how they grow up and it all passes in the blinking of an eye. So it’s the kind of book parents and carers might be crying over as well. As the title suggests, it’s deep in more ways than one.

The illustrations are breathtakingly beautiful, that deep, deep blue ocean in particular. It’s a book to read and read again, especially as a bedtime story.
