We're Going on a Bear Hunt

This is a brilliant book. I memorised it early on because we read it so often, and we still recite it when we’re out on walks. Doing the noises is great fun.

My son loved the repetitive thread through this book and still likes to bring it up whenever we meet an obstacle! "Can't go under it..."!! The illustrations are beautiful and got him to imagine he was on the hill, beach, in the cave etc.

Cullen my son absolutely loves this story and can read it over and over.

My 2-year-old loved his book. She said the bear was sad, but she loves animals and this book.

This is a good book to read to your children whether it be 1-1 or to several siblings. They can join in with certain parts and it keeps them engaged.

This book is AMAZING. I first read it to my children (who are 2 and 3 years old) after watching the channel 4 movie of this book. After that my children would want me to read it every day and now know the book by heart. It is packed with excitement and sounds made whilst walking through the bear hunt in each scene, just captures your attention. I personally love reading this book myself!

We loved this book, the anticipation and excitement of following the family through different terrain to find the bear who might be lonely was a talking point afterwards. We often pretend that we're going on a bear hunt.

I remember being read this book when I was in school, so as soon as I learned that it was still a popular children's book I searched for it and got it for my 2 boys. My preschooler loves it and often takes over reading parts of it to me, which is great.

My 4-year-old went with the school to see this at the Theatre in Norwich and chatted about it for weeks after, still does. So I had to buy the bnook and we read it together all the time. Love this book and enjoyed it when it was on TV on Christmas eve.

This is such a fun active book..with drama and suspense. Reading and then watching MIcheal Rosen act it out was great. My son knows the words and goes on a daily hunt 😊😊

One of the best books ever. I love it for its rhyme and alliteration! My daughter always kisses the bear at the end feeling sorry for him that Boone wants to play with him! It's great to read and act it out at the same time and talk about how you would feel in the snowstorm or going through the river or forest or dark cave. I just love it, best book ever!

Very nice story

This is a great book. We have sat and read it through. We have got up and done actions to match the words e.g. swishy swashy, so a great way to do some exercise. Also, we have collected bottles which contain objects like twigs and mud as a sensory activity.

I have no issues with the book, however if you decide to write a review on this book please make sure you check over your spelling e.g "enertaining"; this should be ENTERTAINING.

Love this book - read it A LOT to my pre-schoolers and just introduced it to my granddaughter. My pre-school children love to re-enact this in the garden as we read it.

I didn't really need to buy my daughter this book as I can still remember it by heart from when I was a child, but I did anyway! She loves it and it has become the favorite for some of our friends to read to her as well.

Wonderful book, we enjoyed the rhythm of it. Easily gives you chance to exaggerate actions to keep little ones engaged.

This is my 3-year-old's favourite story book, he never tires of it. Since we saw the author singing it online, my son will regularly start singing it when we are walking down the road and he knows all the words. Fantastic.

This book was introduced at a mother and baby group when my son was 9 months old, and he has grown to love the story, especially the repetition, actions, and the anticipation of the bear in the cave.

A good book - I remember this from my childhood!

This book is a classic, and rightly so. The repeating phrases, the contrast between black and white pencil drawings and then the beautifully coloured double pages with great sounds to join in with. Little one loves sharing this book with mummy or daddy, waiting with keen anticipation on the page which says 'One shiny wet nose, two big furry ears..' until we read "it's a bear!" loudly and full of surprise and he grabs us around the neck and plays along, going "agh!" and hiding from the bear...

We love a classic, and my 2 year old especially likes this book. Its a big hit with acting out the story as well, especially likes shouting "oh no" with the repetition.

I really love this book. I first came across it at the nursery when the staff were reading it to the children. Kaleb really had fun acting it out and thoroughly enjoys the story. The repetition encourages memory as well. We've also been to see the Michael Rosen exhibition in Stratford at Discover Children's Story Centre and watched the play version of this book at Stratford theatre.

A completely brilliant classic book! We love doing the noises together when we're reading, and often when we're out and about we'll find ourselves doing some "squelch squerch" noises through the mud. We did go through a phase when he was coming up to 2 years old, where it was a bit scary - we'd read up to the cave and then have to stop - but he is past that now.

Our toddler has got something different from this book at different stages - she enjoyed spotting the dog on each page at first, then she enjoyed the sounds and colours, now she loves the actions too! A good active read.

Listened to this book being read at my local library with the book start bear!

We borrowed it from the Children's Centre. The repetitive rhyme was appealing for him but the version we got had alternating colour and black and white pages. The black and white pages were dull to look at and got turned before I finished reading the page.

Great book for all ages. My 1 year old loves listening to all the noises I make while reading it. I myself loved this book as a child too.

I bought this book about 5 years ago for my son and it was a firm favourite then. Now my daughter has claimed the book as her own and she absolutely loves it. We have read it so often that she knows the words by heart and there have been many a day trip which has been transformed into a bear hunt instead. Brilliant!!

My 3 year old son absolutely loves this book! It's a fun story to read and he remembers all the little rhymes in it. He always asks for it at bedtime and he reads it at preschool too. We have the CD in the car and my son always asks for us to play it when we are driving in the car. Fantastic book and I could recommend it to any age group!

This is a favorite of my 3 year old daughter, she has memorized some of the book and joins in reading it. Always fun to read.

My daughter and I have shared this book at toddler group and at home. I love acting out this story: my daughter knows how much I enjoy it so watches bemused!

My son was 10 months old when we first shared this book. He was more interested in snatching the book and 'tasting' it so I let him have it while I acted out the story for him. He is now 12 months old and he actively participates in acting out the story by moving around, wriggling etc. He does not yet speak but he makes sure to utter 'uh-uh' at the right moment every time! It is one of the most rewarding experiences I had with him so far.

I have just returned home from at my local library's story time, and they shared We're Going on a Bear Hunt. All of the children loved taking part in the story. Fun for the parents to see that all the children too. We will be getting this to read at home

We got an excellent version with a DVD so we could read along. My daughter enjoyed hearing me make the noises as they went on their journey through the grass etc.

I have the Board book jigsaw version and the paper back version, this is such a fun book.

I've read to my son since birth and even though he is only 2 and a half months old he loves this book he will stare intensely at it especially as they go between black and white to colour and even move his head to watch me change the page :) I'm sure he will love this book for years to come just like I do

I have been sharing this book with my son since he was a baby & he still loves it 2 years on. My mum used to read this to me when I was young so it has a special place in my heart! The sounds are great for young ones & now we bring the book to life by going on our own bear hunt in the park - squelching through the mud is our favourite!

A great book for spacial awareness (and sound effects!). We love the over, under and through - especially when it's a nice day and we can get outside to play in the long grass.

Oh what a journey when we read this great book together as a family for the first time. We kept reading and turning the page wondering what was coming next? My son is really getting into these books now since he has just turned 2yrs. Great book from Michael Rosen as usual.

My little girl gets so excited when we read this... she tries to do all the actions as we read along. She finds the ending hilarious and does nothing but giggle when we hide under the covers from the bear. A great read for both of us!

We have read this book out loud with sound effects and actions to our 8 month old son. I am so keen for him to learn the sound effects and actions. A great book for children to learn off by heart with the repetition.

Needs to be read with actions and noises to be fully appreciated. A real gem of a book that is beautiful to look at as well as easy to use to prompt giggle fits. As an added bonus the 'running' at the end is great keep fit for any new mums who worry about such things. :-)

I used to sing the Bear Hunt song to my daughter from her being 1 year old. When I found the book I couldn't wait to get home and read it to her! Deffinatly one of her top favouirite books and now at 3 year old she knows the story page by page! Brilliant read! xx

My little boy loves going on a bear hunt adventure. He particularly likes the actions and sound we both try to make.

My 15 month old hasn't got the patience for the entire book yet, but he does enjoy the pictures and the "swish swish" sounds. I will certainly be reading this through the years to him.

Harriet loves this book and likes to shout oh no in each area. We know it off by heart and recite it when we are out on dog walks looking for a bear in the fields and hedgerows of Bedfordshire.

We love this book. When I was younger I did some work in nurseries and the children used to love sitting in a circle and joining in with the noises. My mum read it to my younger brother and she reads it with the children she looks after so it was only natural that we bought it for my little boy. He is six months old now and he gets excited towards the end of the book when I speed up. The repetition is great for him and he recognises the sounds. This book is brilliant. My 3 1/2 year old Connor Loves it. He knows every word and gets really excited when reading it. Its also inspired him to go on walks more as he likes to go on his own Bear hunt, making up stories with what when find around us in the woods/coastal paths/beach :D .

This is the perfect book to read aloud as we get to use lots of different voices and facial expressions which really excites my son. The writing is so beautiful and there is a great rhythm to the tale. A real favourite.

Anton and I have been reading this book at the breakfast table for the past two weeks and he almost knows it by heart. His favourite bit is finding the bear but he looses interest after the hunt is over!

my little one loves this story. we have the book with a dvd. when reading it, it becomes a whole role play experience as we pretend we're on a bear hunt going through the swishy grass or squelching through the mud. till were hiding in bed from the bear. the delight in giggles is enough to read this book over and over. a great book to bring alive a childs imagination.

We love this book!! We often hide Joseph's teddy and recreate the book in the living room hunting for teddy.

We read it every night at bed time - in fact we have to read the part where the bear is chasing us again and again!! Leah just loves it, especially when the bear reaches the door - GGGRRRR!!

We love this book as it's really fast paced and you get drawn into the action.(we do the actions as we go too.) We all end up hyper after reading this. Ryan feels really sorry for the bear at the end and wishes we could go to give it a cuddle.

We didn't find that our son really enjoyed this book, perhaps he was a little too young when we first tried it with him at just over a year. He loves bears so the idea of hunting them and then being followed home by one doesn't really work for him! He loves rhymes and rhythms, but now he is older he tends to get a bit restless with all the repetition so we have chosen to read other books instead.

This is such a fantastic book and has really engaged my 2 year son. He loves the rhyming style and has 'oh no' and 'two big eyes' off to a fine art. I often see him acting out the bear hunt. I think this will be a long time favourite.

My Daughter Loves Doing All The Actions And Sounds To This Book It Is One Of Her Favorite Books

This book was first introduced to us in a toddler group. The group leader read the book out loud to all the children and by the end of it they were doing the actions to over it, under it and through it. I have read this many times to my little girl of three and she now reads the book to me (with a little help occasionally). We both love this book that's why it deserves a 5 star. A must read for all children.

I adore this book- my mother read it to me when I was a child, and I have now bought the pop-up version of it and have been reading it to my 6 month old! Without a doubt we will be reading it for many years to come, as it is a classic, and I love to sing it with all the hand movements that I learnt when I went to nursery!

I have read this book so many times I know it by heart-my 2 year old son can not wait until the bear appears and loves the chase scenes at the end and the last page when the bear is seen trudging back to his cave. We do the various actions as the family travel across different hazards in their search for the bear.

My 8 month old enjoys this story - particularly the sounds - swish swish! I like the idea of everyone hiding in the bed at the end - including the dog :-)

I read this to Maggie at bedtime, we love doing all the actions and Maggie gets really excited, she does get a bit sad about bear being on his own at the end but I just say he's off home to mummy and daddy :o)

This is such a fun book to read. There are so many sounds to make along the bear hunters' journey as they travel through long grass, sticky mud, and tricky forests.

This is a fabulous book with lots of different sounds. We came across this in a pack of ten books and had never heard of it before but our 10 month old loves it. Brilliant adventure for little explorers!

Fabulous, fabulous book. I first came across it in my role as teacher - great book for in class. So I was so excited when my daughter turned out to love the story too. She helps herself to this book from the shelf regularly and loves the 'singsong' rhythm of the words. She also enjoys pointing out the dog and the baby on each page.

We read this as a bed time story (oops) which perhaps wasnt such a good idea, my son is quite sensitive and didnt really appreciate the story at this time

This is one of our all time favourites and can be re-enacted when we go walking across the fields too. he loves all the sound effects and actions that i make to accompany the singy-songy story, and we end up all snuggled under the duvet at the end.

I read this book to my son all the time. Mainly because he requests it . He goes through some of the narrative and also enjoys watching the video that came with it. He runs around the house saying stumble trip and pretends to do this.
