This Zoo is Not For You

Publisher: Nosy Crow

It is interview day at the zoo, and the animals have set high standards for any creature wishing to join their establishment. When a platypus arrives at the gate, Tiger swiftly sends him to meet the interviewers. The haughty flamingos don’t feel he would enhance the zoo; the cheeky chimps are only interested in animals who can do tricks; and the colourful chameleons are unimpressed by his brownish-grey hue.

The elephant rudely informs the platypus that he has failed the interview and, picking him up in his trunk, removes him from the zoo. When Platypus has gone, the animals worry they may have been a bit unkind, but can they put things right?

Gentle humour, rhyming text and fabulous illustrations combine to create this wonderful picture book, which highlights the importance of being open, friendly and welcoming to all. The glorious full-page illustrations are a delight, particularly the final double-page spread, which is bursting with joy and is sure to bring a smile to any reader’s face.
