The Sound of Whales

Publisher: Chicken House

Fraser Dunbar and his family live on the tiny Scottish island of Nin – so small and unknown it’s even left off many maps. His younger brother Dunny hasn’t talked for many years. When they were younger, Fraser accepted his sibling’s silent state but more recently he’s starting experiencing increased senses of frustration and resentment towards his brother, dreading his imminent start at the same school.

Plus Dunny has started behaving very strangely, wandering around the coast and writing on shells, much to the disgust of his brother, who refuses even to bother reading the apparently random messages. Fraser is far more interested in going whale-spotting with a local boat-owner, particularly since recent times seem to have seen some unusual whale activity in the area. The arrival of an irritating but attractive American girl and the discovery of a dead body washed up on the beach pull Fraser into a mysterious adventure. Could all the strange events be linked somehow?
