The Egg Incident
Publisher: Cicada Books
Humphrey the egg has a list of rules to follow – no running, no jumping and NO sitting on walls! He knows full well what happened to his poor uncle Humpty. One day, he walks very carefully to the park (leaving his worried parents at home), where he meets the energetic and friendly PJ. Together, they play games like hide and seek and catch, but they chat for so long, they’re locked in the park. And oh no, to escape, they’ll have to climb over the wall! Is Humphrey brave enough?
This is a very funny graphic novel that will have children giggling out loud. Humphrey’s caution is delightfully cute, but he learns that excessive caution can prevent you living your life. There are many funny details to spot in the illustrations – Daisy Wynter characterises these eggs brilliantly – and some eggcellent puns. The layout doesn’t have black lines dividing the panels of action, which allows a lot of white space on the page, making it appealing to the reluctant or beginner reader. The font is in upper and lower case, unusually for a graphic novel, which aids legibility. This would be a delight to share one on one, or to curl up with.
Mae gan Humphrey yr wy restr o reolau i’w dilyn - dim rhedeg, dim neidio a DIM eistedd ar waliau! Mae’n gwybod beth ddigwyddodd i’w ewythr Humpty. Fodd bynnag, pan ei fod yn cael ei hun wedi’i gloi mewn parc gyda’i ffrind PJ, rhaid iddo ddianc trwy ddringo dros y wal.
Dyma nofel graffig ddoniol a fydd yn cael plant yn chwerthin dros bob man gyda llawer o fanylion i’w darganfod a chwarae ar eiriau gWYch! Y Mae ffont mewn llythrennau mawr a llythrennau bach sy’n helpu eglurdeb, a byddai hyn yn bleser i’w rannu un-i-un.
