Nibbles Christmas

Publisher: Little Tiger

Emma Yarlett's lovable book-munching monster strikes again, this time in a Christmas-themed board book.

Like the others in the series for younger readers, such as Nibbles Colours, the joy of sharing this book lies in the sheer anarchy of the character Nibbles. Toddlers will love poking their fingers in the die-cut "peep" holes on the page – the holes that Nibbles makes after eating his way through the book. They'll giggle when they see that he's crawled onto the next page, too, and is intent on creating even more havoc... And it's even more fun when your favourite cheeky monster is wearing a santa hat!

As always, Emma Yarlett's design and illustrations are a real treat and essential in capturing the joy and silliness of the story. The colours are bright and bold and there is a wonderful simplicity to the round and squidgy Nibbles with his four pointy teeth. Most young children, who act on impulse like Nibbles, will root for him from the outset.

This is a great board book for also getting excited about Christmas (and numbers!), as the pages count down the days until Christmas. It ends on a cleverly playful note, when children lift the flaps to reveal Nibbles' present – a copy of Nibbles Christmas. Who can guess what Nibbles will eat for his Christmas lunch...?
