Review
Tar loves Gemma, but Gemma doesn't want to be tied down to anyone or anything. Gemma wants to fly - but she can't fly forever...
Melvin Burgess's disturbing story of a group of teenagers on the slippery slope into heroin addiction is a contemporary teen classic. An honest account of the realities of drug use, it presents a frank and very believable portrayal of addiction. Winner of both the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, this uncompromising story is best suited to mature teenage readers.

This book was brilliant. It was in turn both exciting and shocking which i have come to expect when reading any story by Melvin Burgess. I read this just after reading the Ghost Behind the Wall by him and the contrasts between the two novels were immense. I have since then passed Junk on to every teenager who is a voracious reader as i think every young adult should read this book.

This book was brilliant! It always kept me interested at every page. I loved how the characters developed through out the book.
