Goldilocks and the Three Crocodiles

Publisher: Harper Collins

A classic fairy tale is reimagined in this brilliantly funny, rhyming picture book, written by former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen. Goldilocks and her dog Tiddles set off through a dark wood to find that house – the one with the chairs, porridge, beds and three bears. But instead of a bears’ house, Goldilocks and Tiddles are lured by the song of the sea onto a beach, where they find a big cave. Inside the cave, there are fish chairs and shell beds and bowls of seaweed which the pair (of course) must try out. However, it isn’t long until three green, scaly creatures take notice…

Children who are familiar with the original fairy tale Goldilocks and the Three Bears will delight in being able to anticipate the predictable elements of the story. But the original tale has been enhanced by Michael Rosen’s wonderful rhyme and repetitive text, and combined with David Melling’s warm and expressive illustrations. Not only this but Goldilocks herself has been given a restyle – this dungaree-wearing Goldilocks is a little more daring, a little less neat and, best of all, she has a very cute canine companion!

Mae Goldilocks a'i chi Tiddles yn cychwyn ar daith drwy'r goedwig dywyll er mwyn dod o hyd i'r tŷ hwnnw - yr un gyda'r cadeiriau, uwd, gwelyau a'r tair arth. Ond yn lle tŷ'r eirth, mae cân y môr yn hudo Goldilocks a Tiddles i'r traeth, lle maen nhw'n darganfod ogof fawr.

Bydd plant sy'n gyfarwydd â'r chwedl Goldilocks wreiddiol wrth eu boddau'n gallu rhagweld elfennau disgwyliadwy'r stori. Ond mae testun odledig ac ailadroddus gwych Michael Rosen, ynghyd â darluniau cynnes a llawn mynegiant David Melling, yn cyfoethogi'r stori wreiddiol.
