Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder
Author: Jo Nesbo Translator: Tara Chace
Publisher: Simon and Schuster Children's Books
Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder is a laugh-out-loud funny title for everyone who finds fart jokes funny.
Doctor Proctor is an eccentric inventor who has waited all his life for his big break. And when he teams up with his next-door neighbour Nilly and Nilly's friend Lisa, to make the world's most powerful fart powder, it seems his dream may come true. But the ruthless twins Truls and Trym Thrane are lurking in the background just waiting to spoil their plans. Will the small but smart Nilly be able to save the day?
Packed with witty dialogue, this is a thrilling first foray into children’s fiction for Jo Nesbo, the successful adult crime writer; a fantastically silly debut in translation.
Jo Nesbø is the most successful Norwegian author of all time. His adult novels have sold millions of copies worldwide. His children's books have also received widespread acclaim: his Doctor Proctor's Fart Powder series was translated into more than 35 languages. The first book of the Doctor Proctor series has sold more copies than any children's book debut in Norwegian history. It has been made into a live-action movie which will be released in the UK in 2015.
Before becoming an author Jo played football for Norway's premier league team Molde. But his dream of playing professionally for Tottenham Hotspur was dashed due to an injury he suffered at the age of 18. After three years of military service he attended business school and formed the band Di Derre ('Them There'). Their second album topped the charts in Norway. But he continued working as a financial analyst, crunching numbers during the day and gigging at night. It wasn't until he was 37 that Jo became a published author.

I liked this book because it is funny and hilarious and also FARTASTIC!! Its about a boy named Nilly here is an example from the book. I'm Nilly he told the guardsmen. What have you got to say about that? One of the guardsmen started swaying back and forth and singing "Silly Nilly" Two more quickly joined in. "Shut up", looking up at the clock. Or rather,n Open up. I think it was good because I like Comical books. I would recommend this book to in-mature people because it mentions a lot of...

I'm not a big fan of this book. The beginning is quite slow and there are a lot of descriptions that are not needed, and I like to focus on story. I think this book is more for kids aged 9 and under, since it contains pictures and the book itself is about farts.
Kobby, East Barnet School, 21 January 2016
It was a good book. It was funny, exciting and a really good page turner. If I had the other three books I would read them and if there was a film I would probably watch that too. My favourite character was Nilly. He is funny and quite a little dare devil going through the sewers on his own to escape from the prison. The funniest pun that I read in the book was a snake called Anna Conda ( the real type of the snake being an anaconda ). I really wish the fart powder was real so then I can j...

Andre Austin Dean’s review of Doctor Proctor’s Fart powder Doctor Proctor’s Fart powder is a story written by Jo Nesbo. But then their invention is stolen by two terrible twins, Truls and Trym. Doctor Proctor, Nilly and Lisa have to get it back. Introduction Doctor Prockters Fart Powder, the most amazing and hilarious book (and I haven't even read it all) and I already love it. Synopsis This is about an inventor that makes an invention to help him become rich (because he is poor). But the twins Truls and Trym try to steel it. Description Its good book because its not some thing that you would see every day. Evaluation Over all it was good. And I haven't even read it all yet. So imagean how good it will be when I finish it.

I liked it a bit but I DIDNT understand it and I wouldn't like to recommend to anyone. the main character is the scientist that is trying to make a fart powder and sell it but it didn't work out and he ended up selling it the way it was.
carlos, cola-i, 07 January 2016
I disliked the book because when I read the first few pages it was quite boring, to me it was not really as intriguing as I thought it would be. The main character is the person who tries to make the fart powder, but the main event is about a boy who eats the powder and suddenly farts a lot. Overall (in my opinion) I did not like the book, I wouldn't say its bad, but I wouldn't say its good.

This is a thrilling book that has comedy/ adventure. the book is fun to read, some parts has boring pages some are not important. I would recommend it to people who are bored as there are really interesting parts.

This book I found boring at the start but as I read more, I began enjoying it a bit. I think its a slow book and does need to talk more about the story. Evaluation I think this bood is for people older than 12.
Younes, COLA-I, 07 January 2016
This book was very good but there are a few issues, like the beginning, but I would recommend it for a high standard year 6.

In year 7 we experienced the sensational Book Buzz. I chose this book out of the variety of books because its bright cover. The blurb sounds 'Hilariously Funny, Totally Crazy,' by having the word 'FART' in the title. Also the drawing of a boy holding the 'FART POWDER' farting. It's also 'Wickedly Entertaining.'

The book had chosen was Doctor Proctors Fart Powder, I choose this book because I thought it looked a bit like a Roald Dhal book. The book is about two children, Nilly and Lisa, that met when Nilly moved house next to Lisa. The two children meet a crazy Doctor that develops an amazing invention that could blast people up into space, however someone wanted this invention to make some money. I recommend this book to readers aged 8-12.
Ahmed, The priory academy LSST, 14 December 2015
The book was a good read once getting into it although the book was extremely boring at the start. There was a lot of old jokes that I and many more may not of understood. Jo Nesbo was taking ideas from the great authors Roald Dahl and David Walliams. Including the comedy from both and the idea of the bullies from one of David Walliams' latest books. The title got you into the book and made you want to read but the start let you down. Unfortunately not the greatest book I've ever read.
Ethan, The priory academy LSST, 14 December 2015
This is a really funny and lively book that always makes me smile when I read it. I especially like Nilly's character as he is witty and humorous. Jo Nesbo has done a really good job in setting the scene in Norway. She takes a real place and fictionalizes it.
Joe, Bablake school, 10 December 2015
Admittedly I was excited for this book because it had a creative title and cover. But at the start of the book and the whole way though I was bored out of my skin. The majority was ok and could read through it but I have learnt never trust a book by its cover.
Ethan, Priory Academy LSST, 09 December 2015
Farts are funny!

This book was very interesting and funny. The reason why I think its funny is because the book is called Doctor Proctors Fart Powder also, this story was interesting because it had a twist in the story it includes two terrible twins who steal the potion. This story really gave me a big shock and also surprised me overall,I think it was a good book

Nilly and Lisa befriend local inventor Doctor Proctor. When his latest invention, a super strength fart powder that can propel a person into space, is stolen, the fun begins. Getting the powder back takes them on a madcap adventure. Reading Nilly, and Lisa’s scrapes, had me laughing out loud on the train!

Doctor Proctor manages to singlehandedly invent a stratospherically inclined special powder which causes explosions, space travel and problems in Oslo’s sewers – a deft and crazy adventure.
Simon, 29 April 2015
I loved this book for its humour and wonderful, warm characters. Who hasn't imagined inventing a powerful powder that could blast you into space? You'll laugh out loud. Just watch out for those nasty twins and an anaconda living in the sewers!
