Calming Colouring for Kids
Publisher: Buster Books
Open this colouring book at a random page and your eyes will be dazzled by all the colours and intricate designs.
The illustrators have done a fantastic job of providing a real range of patterns and scenes. There are swirling mandalas and uniform umbrellas; snowy winterscapes and chunky worms. In short, there's sure to be a page (or several) that captures your child's imagination.
The book has a sweet intro - 'Use any shades you like and don't worry about staying inside the lines!' - that describes how colouring and creativity can take your mind off something that's bothering you.
It also talks the child through different emotions, by using colour. 'Red is courageous', 'Green is peaceful, calm and pure' and 'Yellow is happy'.
Other than this, it leaves the child to quietly think about these issues themselves, as they have fun focusing on the activities.
