Bad Nana: That’s Snow Business

It’s almost Christmas and Jeanie and her annoying little brother Jack are super excited because, for the first time, their town is holding a Winter Wonderland Variety Show. Better still, everyone’s invited to audition.

Jeanie and her friends Wilf and Marcy get Bad Nana – who is no stranger to show business – to coach them in a dance routine. Yet when Bad Nana takes to the stage in a VERY sparkly gown, the rivalry begins between her and fellow luvvie Bobby Trulove – and maybe the lure of the old razzle-dazzle may prove too much for both of them. After all, when you’re old, people don’t think you can do anything – let alone show business.

The third in Sophy Henn’s brilliant young middle grade series is as full of Jeanie’s breathless storytelling and excitable capitalisation as the first two, and Bad Nana is up to her old tricks. The relationship between a little girl and her favourite fun Nana is so well crafted, giving Jeanie the opportunity to be the voice of reason for a slightly badly behaved Nana – and the final message, about having fun being more important than performing perfectly, is pitch perfect.
