About this book
When Iggy’s mum and Cal’s dad get together, the four of them move from the city to Greenacres, a quaint thatched cottage in a little village on the edge of Wildtop Wood.
The owner of the cottage, nature-lover Sylvie Green, lives in a cabin at the end of the garden and tells the children stories of the ‘wild green magic’ which permeates the ancient woodland.
Together with their new neighbour, Mae, the stepbrothers excitedly set off to explore the wood. They are astonished when the trees entwine their branches to create a secret walkway within the leafy canopy, enabling the trio to race exuberantly through the treetops.
However, the children are alarmed when they discover that some of the trees are dying. Can they be saved, before it’s too late?
This is the first tale in a compelling, nature-centred, fantasy adventure series. The chapters are accompanied by beautifully expressive black and white illustrations, which bring the forest and its creatures to life.
The relationship between Iggy and Cal is delightful, as each of them learns how to be a brother for the first time. Mae is deaf and uses hearing aids, lip reading and sign language to communicate.
