A Magical World of Music By Branwen Gwyn

Branwen comes from Cardiff, where she still lives, with husband Elis and their daughter Esyllt. She started playing the piano at the age of four, winning an Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music scholarship as a teenager. She started accompanying at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf and hasn’t stopped since! Branwen studied Music at Bangor University, where she specialized in performing on the trumpet. She began her career presenting children’s programmes on S4C, and between 2000 and 2010 she was a familiar face on television shows such as Wedi 7, Eisteddfod yr Urdd and Gŵyl Cerdd Dant. Branwen trod the boards across Wales in 2004/2005 when she played the role of flugel horn-playing Gloria in Clwyd Theatr Cymru’s critically acclaimed production of Brassed Off. Although she spent a period behind the camera as a producer, Branwen has since returned to the screen to present Weather bulletins for the BBC on S4C. 

Branwen also works as a freelance translator (graduating with an MA in Professional Translation Studies from Aberystwyth University in 2018) and also scripts and composes song lyrics for children’s programmes. 

Branwen is a member of award-winning choir Côrdydd, of which she has been the accompanist since its beginning, as well as being one of its co-founders in 2000.
