Who Let the Gods Out?
Publisher: Chicken House
Elliot has so far succeeded in keeping his mum’s illness a secret but now the money is running out and things are getting desperate.
When a young Zodiac goddess, Virgo, lands in his back garden, Elliot thinks he might see a way to resolve some of his difficulties but, instead, the pair manage to accidentally release Thanatos - the immortal death-daemon - from centuries of imprisonment.
With a wicked megalomaniac on the loose, Elliot and Virgo are out of their depth so must call on the help of Zeus and other long-retired gods to recapture the fugitive. But can they get to Thanatos before he gets to take over the world?
Funny, witty, inspired and utterly contemporary, this fantasy thriller/adventure is a magical blend of ancient and modern, with brilliant characterisation and a truly human story at its heart.

As a huge fan of Greek Mythology, this book was physically painful to read. If I could rate this book less than one star, I would rate it -10 stars. The depiction of many figures of the Greek pantheon make me cringe and want to cry, the plot is lacklustre, and I generally hated every aspect of this book. I read it first as a child, and hated it, and now that I am older, I still hate it. This book makes my blood boil and my soul want to exit this Earth and defend to Tartarus.

This is an amazing book with amazing characters. I really loved the characters Virgo and Elliot who helped each other out to get high scores in tests! Virgo thinks she's perfect but Elliot doesn't! Elliot showed braveness throughout the story because his mum was sick but he never gave up. I really liked when the pink limo came to school to pick Elliot up! The ending is really gripping too and makes you really want to read book 2!

One of the best books I’ve read! The first two chapters introduces Elliot , a mortal boy with a big prophecy. The third Chapter introduced Virgo, a constilation of the zodiac Council. It was LOL almost all the time but had some touching moments in there too.
