Twinkle, Twinkle, ABC

A Mixed-up, Mashed-up Melody

Publisher: Phaidon

A mixed-up, mashed-up melody is the perfect description for this clever sing-song board book. Squishing the ABC song into Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, this fun new song will have little ones jumping and howling along. It’s easy to sing along with but there’s musical notation at the back for anyone who needs it.

This is a lovely big glossy format from Phaidon, and the cool illustrations from Fred Benaglia are modern and eye-catching.

‘A twinkly star, an alphabet, Just how silly can we get?’

With surprising appearances from a bear playing a banjo, a cow in a tutu and a caterpillar in a hat, the answer is very – and all the better for it!

It’s a great idea and a great production – this could be a new favourite sing-along in any homes that give the book a go. It’d also be brilliant to bring into a classroom and could inspire some more silly mash-ups.
