Travels with my Sketchbook

Publisher: Macmillan

Review

This book pulls together a compilation of some of the thousands of drawings Chris made while Waterstones Children’s Laureate 2015-17. It also includes his political cartoons, card games and poems.

What results is an astounding book that reflects the incredible achievements and impact of Chris Riddell’s laureateship, as well as one of the most tumultous periods of political history.

Children will read this book for inspiration in their own personal doodling journey. They will also be entertained, thrilled and amused by Chris’s brilliant illustrations and wacky sense of humour (and to see their favourite characters from his books in various guises). Everyone will enjoy reliving the past two years through Chris’s observant, witty and affectionate eyes.

This book will only grow in importance as time goes by and we can only dream that Chris might publish his version of events every two years from now on.

Chris Riddell is donating all proceeds from Travels With My Sketchbook to BookTrust.
