The Twisted Tree

Martha’s life was turned upside down when following an accident, she became blind in one eye. Since that fateful day, she discovered she could learn things about a person just by touching their clothes, as if their emotions and memories were absorbed into the fabric.

Determined to understand her strange ability, Martha sets off to visit her grandmother, Mormor, who holds the answers to the mystery. When she arrives at the remote cabin in Norway, she discovers Mormor is dead and a strange boy has been living in the cabin. As Martha comes to term with her death, she can’t help but feel that something evil is lurking in the woods and is connected with the twisted tree in Mormor’s garden and why she has these strange powers… Can she solve the mystery before it’s too later?

This atmospheric debut from Rachel Burge is a creepy thriller interweaved with Norse mythology that gets under your skin. Please note there is one instance of swearing and young teenagers drinking alcohol in the book.
