Size Wise

Publisher: Buster Books

From the big to the small, size is important and can tell us a lot about the animals and plants that live on planet Earth. This fascinating book zooms in on size to reveal all kinds of interesting facts about why things are the size that they are, and to give young readers a sense of scale.

There’s the colossal squid which have the largest eye of any animal currently known – they even have built in headlights to help them see in the dark! At the opposite end of the spectrum, a single tiny grain of sand can be up to two millimetres in size - whilst it might not look like much to the eye, put under a microscope that single grain can look a whole lot more interesting.

Each double page spread addresses a different living being or natural habitat with easily digestible bitesize chunks of information that includes size comparisons and short fun facts.

Most of the super realistic illustrations are depicted at life size with the actual measurements of the real-life equivalent. Curious readers can look in awe at the impressive likeness and scale of the many natural wonders and the book is great for visual learners especially.

We particularly love the special full-page, life-size illustrations which show in detail a male gorilla’s hands, a T-Rex’s jaws, and the foot of an adult elephant!
