Pop and Peek: Hatch

Publisher: Templar Books

Part of the entertaining Pop and Peek series comes Hatch: another pop-up peekaboo book for babies that toddlers, this time exploring all the amazing animals and insects that come into the world out of eggs!

From chicks to sea turtles, the board book’s big lift-the-flaps are great for small and clumsy hands. Even better are the surprise pop-up versions of the animals that bring it all to 3D life: fun feats of paper engineering designed by Richard Ferguson. Enthusiastic younger ones will need a bit of
supervision in case they tug too hard at these animals and cause the paper to rip – but the rest of the book is age-appropriately sturdy. Older ones might ask follow-up questions about the whole process of being born from an egg, and other animals where this is the case, lending the book a bit of bonus early learning.

Hatch could also introduce your child (and you!) to a new favourite animal: all herald the ridiculously cute baby platypus, otherwise known as a “puggle”!
