Petunia Perry and the Curse of the Ugly Pigeon
Author: Pamela Butchart Illustrator: Gemma Correll
Publisher: Nosy Crow
Petunia Perry - or Peri Perry, as she's now called, due to a fortunate mishap by one of the office ladies on the first day of primary school - is writing her memoir to fully explain why she's no longer friends with Cammy (lesson: don't name your child after a cheese) and why, therefore, she and Cammy's band are unlikely to be the Next Big Thing.
Confessional, hilarious and featuring a cat called Margaret, Peri's story has a strong character voice and tons of chaotic weirdness that will appeal to a wide range of readers.
As a child, Pamela was lucky enough to grow up in a house full of pets, have a mum and dad who were bonkers, and go to The Best Most Awesome Primary School in the World™. As a student, Pamela's student jobs included: fishwife, teaching basketball in America, phlebotomist, and Artist Liaison for a (really bad) Abba tribute band. Now, Pamela teaches philosophy to teenagers and spends all day pondering questions such as, 'Is time travel possible?' and 'How do I know I'm not really a robot?' The stories write themselves, really…

The curse ugly of the ugly pigeon is very funny book, which is about a girl called Perry and her best friend cammy the time girl have just started high school and are trying to fit in by doing embarrassing things such as standing on stage and doing a dance in front of everyone . Also cammy has a cat who she thinks could have been elvis in her previous life.

what happens when there is a cursed pigeon a pigeon curses this girl and then she have now got bad luck but people do not know how long this will be in her for. this book was good because a "band" had there concert but it was a fail and then the whole school found out and made fun of them I would recommend it to 5 and over because the girl that's in it is under 10 and she may or may not fancy someone

There is a curse spreading around apparently caused by an ugly pigeon. There is a lonely girl who is bullied and followed by this "curse" we like this book because its very interesting and shows different emotions such as, romance, anger. action and lots more. We would recommend this to 7+ as it would show them how to become responsible as they grow up or people who have been bullied to show them how they can get through it.

I think the book was very relatable and you could actually imagine you doing that. I also thought the friendship between Petunia and Cammy is lovely. They both have insecurities and they help each other get through it. The whole idea of bringing spoons into a musical instrument and using the spoons as drumsticks made me giggle. And I can relate to everyone thinking I was weird but sometimes you just need to embrace your weirdness

This book is about a girl called Petunia Perry. Everybody at her new school thinks she is weird. She spat TUNA SANDWICH on the boy she likes. Her best friend spent all of their band money on personalised socks. I loved this book its surprising and super funny. I can`t wait to finish the last 44 pages. I recommend this book to anyone that likes comedy, you can be any age to relate to this book. thank u for reading, hope you enjoy the book if you read it.

I found this book was good but I did not find it very interesting and I found it funny. The book was a very easy read and the pictures took up most of the pages so the book is quite a lot shorter than it seems. My favourite character was Cammy’s cat(you will understand who this is once you have read this book) as it was strange and mysterious and could tell when things are wrong. My favourite chapter is called “Parents Evening: When two worlds collide”. This is because it...

This story is about a girl called Perry she is finding it had to fit in to her high school and she does not have any friends except for one girl called Cammy. I think that the first chapter is a bit boring but as you go through the story it gets better and better in every chapter. The book has loads of funny items that you laugh and smile. The last chapter has not got much information on what happens at the end but it did not matter because i just enjoyed reading it to my family. I recomme...

This book is full of laughter. It is about a girl who is at school and about her story. The best thing about this book is the names! they have stupid names like Peri and Camembert. I mean who names their child Camembert! The beginning is funny and so is the part where they decide to make a band and called it the spoons. The singer is a cat. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to laugh!

This was a great book overall, with funny and whacky humour. The author really managed to find the perfect balance of "funny/fun" and seriousness. She knew exactly when to slide a cheeky joke in, and when to be serious. It is truly a perfect mix. In my opinion, though, the author sometimes used short or long sentences too often, and repetitively, which, at certain points, made the book slightly repetitive and made me a little bored. Overall, though, it was a good book, made me smile, and w...

Do you like funny books? Are You a type of person that laughs all the time? Well this is the book for you, Petunia Perry and the Curse of the Ugly Pigeon. This book has sometimes made, my day because its very humorous and has some very funny dialogue. This book hooked me because of the way how the front cover looks. The pigeon with the glasses made me think that it was funny. If your sad then this book you have to try.
Leon, Harris Boys' Academy East Dulwich, 10 January 2017
I chose this book because it sounded really funny and because of the glasses on the pigeon.

I thought that the actual story was good but I wasn't really sure about the way it was laid out as it was a bit boring in some parts as it waffled on. It also had a lot of pictures and i like to imagine them, one or two a chapter is good but not two a page.I really liked the story as it was really funny and it was realistic which i love.
