Mold and the Poison Plot

(1 reviews with an average rating of 5 out of 5)

Publisher: Oxford University Press

In the mystic land of Pellagarno, a baby is abandoned in a dustbin - a baby with a big heart and an even bigger nose. Discovered and adopted by the potion seller Aggy, who names the boy Mold, he grows up as an outcast and labelled a "freak". Yet when Aggy is accused of poisoning the King, and carted off to the castle's dungeons, it is up to Mold to prove his innocence.

Lorraine Gregory creates a fully fleshed-out fantasy world, full of wondrous creatures and horrible humans. The humour is earthy and the action bloody (gruesomely so, at points), and it all combines perfectly in this great read.
