Joe All Alone

When Joe’s Mum leaves him alone in Peckham, to fly to Spain with Dean, her latest dodgy boyfriend, 13 year old Joe thinks it will be an adventure, like he’s Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer. He befriends, Asha, staying with her Grandpa across the landing and they grow really close. But the days speed past and the money for food and electricity runs out.

Then the threatening phone calls begin – Joe is terrified as he knows there’s a bag of money hidden in the cistern. But Mum doesn’t come back. Would she really abandon him? What’s the right thing to do?
