I Did See a Mammoth!

Publisher: Farshore

In this hilarious picture book, an adventurous group of explorers arrive in the Antarctic to study penguins. But excellent as penguins may be, one young explorer has other ideas – they have come to see a mammoth. And whilst the rest of the group are busy with penguins, the little explorer spots none other than a great big mammoth. This one is wearing sunglasses and riding a skateboard!

The rest of the group are far from convinced. Surely, it could only have been a magnificent penguin. After all, mammoths are (well…) very much extinct! Soon, our young explorer is glimpsing the mammoth at every turn in all sorts of surprising situations. Can the young explorer make the rest of the group believe that he really did see a mammoth?

This is a brilliant book to read aloud and one that adult readers can have lots of fun telling. In true pantomime style, children will delight in being able to see something that many of the characters within the action cannot. They can really begin to empathise with the young explorer as the frustration builds to a final temper tantrum!

The comical illustrations are full of expression, and we love how both the orange mammoth and the cute, little explorer – wearing a red Santa-style outfit – really stand out against the white wintry backdrop.
