Hugless Douglas and the Great Cake Bake

Publisher: Hodder

One morning, Douglas wakes up to find sticky honey footprints leading from his cupboard to the tree outside, where the sheep are collecting everything they need to bake honey cakes. Problem is, Douglas needs to put honey on everything he eats, otherwise it doesn't taste right!

Unfortunately, even though he's really, really hungry, the bad-tempered sheep get there first and eat every single honey cake, leaving Douglas with just the other three ingredients: carrots, berries and nuts. Thankfully, Douglas realises some things are actually quite yummy without having to put honey on top.

A lovely book about trying new foods, this episode of Douglas' adventures also features a recipe for honey cakes at the back.
