Extra Time
Publisher: Penguin
Imagine being filmed using your football skills to avoid being trampled by a herd of stampeding cattle. That's what happens to 14 year old Matt and it changes his life forever.
Suddenly he is leaving the small town in Australia where he has grown up and is flying with his sister/self-appointed manager to spend two weeks living the life of an English Premier League football star.
Even non-football fans will enjoy this heart-warming story from Morris Gleitzman. Matt is given the opportunity to fulfil his dreams but he manages to do this without giving up on what he believes in.

I think it is a good book and that it is intresting and it's all about football. it would of been great if they had some of there life at the start not just going into the match.

I think the author has made this book a sensation of twists and turns and it is very hard to do that as an author. He also showed the characters emotions throughout the story the reason I have rated this 4 instead of 5 stars was because the ending didn't really reflect on the story being told and I think that spoilt it.

This is a good book especially if you like football it's about a boy who loves football and he plays and he is filmed the whole time and he's whiz zed from his little town in Australia all the way to the premier league.

this is a book about a boy called Matt and his sister (who narrates the book) and her name is bridie and is also the manager of matt's football team. his mum and dad do not want him to play football because one of his family members got killed during a game of football then a tree collapsed on top of them. so matt plays football and never tells his family that he plays football. matt also has a steal leg and that is also another reason that this parents do not let him play football.

The book Extra Time is a book for kids that love a little football tale or two. Myself being a huge football fan helps my passion for this book - you could always tell the feelings of the characters, which I loved. This book is about a young girl from Australia who has an amazing footballing brother who gets a chance to play for a big Premier League team, all expenses paid by the team that he was training for. The young girl is very supportive of her brother and is always trying to do the ...

Behind the belly laughs and the zany descriptions, there’s emotional honesty in this poignant story of cosseting, aspirations and soccer. The relationship between brother and sister Bridie and Matt is honest, true and extremely funny.

Bridie is a wonderful story-teller - very observant and intuitive, able to read exactly what her brother is thinking and to articulate his feelings to the reader. She has a huge heart, which breaks when she sees Matt changing under the pressures of the academy training routines.
