Charlie Merrick’s Misfits: I’m a Nobody, Get Me Out of Here!

(1 reviews with an average rating of 5 out of 5)

Publisher: Oxford

The second Charlie Merrick book takes our hero and his football-mad friends on a Soccer Camp holiday, but the plan misfires when they discover that the booking got confused, and they end up at a Survival Camp instead. Intense rivalry with the other groups, especially the Wild Warriors and their leader Magpie lead them into all sorts of unpleasant situations before they prove that they are real survivors.

Cousins heavily illustrated, funny, rude and scary text mixes a handwritten font with cartoon pictures, and the story moves through the monochrome backgrounds with each episode specifically times. Survival tips are scattered throughout, as the Misfits encounter discomfort and disaster.

The style and presentation will engage reluctant readers, both boys and girls.
