Beast Hunter
Publisher: A&C Black
Jacob and his friends spend their summer playing in an old quarry pond, until one day, a boy is killed – apparently trapped in one of the old metal machines that fill the water.
On a return visit to the quarry, Jacob spots what looks like a crocodile in the murky water but no one he tells believes him. Determined to prove the beast exists, Jacob sets out to find and photograph it – little realising the danger he is putting himself in.
This short and simply written book is for children who find reading challenging. The text is peppered with black and white illustrations and the story has an ultimately reassuring ending.
