All These Things I've Done

Fifteen-year-old Anya has the weight of the world on her shoulders. Her parents have been murdered because her father was the ruthless head of an infamous underworld gang, and must now take responsibility for her sisters and her elderly grandmother. It seems that Anya's destiny is already set before her; however, she is desperate to save her family and break away from the criminal world she was born into. Yet trying to live a normal life when you are surrounded by crime soon becomes increasingly difficult, especially when she falls for Win, the son of the new DA.

Set in the dirty, crime-filled New York City of 2083, in which basic necessities such as water are in short supply, this engaging young adult novel is the first in a trilogy blending elements of dystopia, thriller and romance. Fast-paced and gripping, with compellling characters, Zevin's entertaining novel also captures some of the difficulties of falling in love and growing up.
