10 brilliant books for fans of The Traitors
Whether you’re 100% faithful or look great in a cloak, find recommendations of excellent children’s books you’ll enjoy here.
As another series of The Traitors comes to an end, we know lots of you might be wondering what to do now your visits to the castle are over.
But fear not! We might not have FBI training like Rachel, but we’ve used all our skills to put together a list of recommendations for every kind of Traitors fan…
1. For someone who just wants more Traitors
We get it. Sometimes only more Traitors will do. But we think Traitors in Space by Tim Collins, illustrated by Steven Wood, will fill the gap.
This pick-your-own-path book puts you on a spaceship – where one of your crew mates may have been taken over by an alien. Can you discover who it is and figure out who to trust?
This one is ideal for children who think they’d be really, really good Faithfuls. And if they get it wrong, they can just flip back to the start!
2. For the full Traitors package
The Highland Falcon Thief by M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgman, illustrated by Elisa Paganelli, could not tick more boxes for Traitors fans. It’s got a train. It’s set in Scotland. And it’s got a brilliant mystery to solve. What more could you need?
3. For anyone obsessed with Claudia’s outfits
It’s been a particularly fashion-forward series, from Jade’s woolly cardie to Stephen’s jumpsuit – and, of course, literally everything Claudia Winkleman wears.
So if your child is more interested in kilts than killings, try A History of Fashion for Children by Celia Joicey and Dennis Nothdruft, illustrated by Rose Blake – it’s packed with fascinating information.
4. For fans who would actually quite like to visit the creepy cabin
Brrrrr… rather you than us! But do check out the fantastic Escape Room by Christopher Edge. It’s ideal for future Faithfuls, with mind-bending puzzles and riddles to solve in a story that highlights the power of teamwork.
5. For children who love the cliffhangers…
If you love yelling at the television screen every time the credits roll – tell us what happens next! – then we’ve got just the thing for you.
Dread Wood by Jennifer Killick is a delightfully scary adventure with lots of chapter endings that will keep you guessing… or alternatively, completely unable to stop reading!
6. … and for the ones who adore shock twists
Fiona said what?! Matt asked the Traitors to do what?!
If you’ve enjoyed the sensation of your jaw dropping to the floor, try I Want My Hat Back by Jon Klassen for one of our favourite – and possibly one of the most brutal – twist endings in a children’s book ever.
7. For children who are obsessed with castles
If you know children who are completely fascinated with the idea of living in a castle, try Where’s Dragon In His Castle? by David MacPhail, illustrated by Mariana Ruiz Johnson – it takes you back in time to explore a medieval castle.
Plus, it’s a search-and-find book, perfect for sharpening up those spotting skills ahead of a future hunt for a shield…
8. For those who want to know if THEY could survive
Werewolf Wood by Lan Cook, illustrated by Jared MacPherson, literally says, “Can you survive the night?” on its cover. Need we say more?
This fabulous choose-your-own-adventure also (as the title suggests) features werewolves – so fans who have noticed similarities between The Traitors and the game One Night Ultimate Werewolf will feel right at home.
For another book testing your survival skills, try Choose Your Own Evolution by Jules Howard, illustrated by Gordy Wright!
9. For the fans who always want the Traitors to win
Sometimes you just have to root for the villains! And in that case, we recommend The Bad Guys by Aaron Blabey – even if the characters in the book are trying to mend their ways, unlike those dastardly traitors…
10. And for the contestants themselves…
Feeling betrayed? We recommend Friendship Survival Guide by Caroline Young, illustrated by The Boy Fitz Hammond and Helen Lang. That ought to get those relationships back on track…
